Flows in the Oak are already on the rise today thanks to increasing overflow water. The rain is Lake Effect so as is often the case with snow most of it goes south of the area. For now on the Oak anglers seem to be hooking up on a few steelhead nearest the dam that came along with the higher flows of a few weeks ago mixed in with a handful of fresh fish trickling in thru the downstream fast water. Flows in the Oak still humming along at around slightly high and slightly stained. Flows in the Oak are responding nicely to a few days of previous cold with dropping and clearing. We finished the day with a few more fish and a memory to last forever. Total snow cover in the immediate area may only be 6 inches give or take, but the snow is wind swept bare in spots or drifted in feet otherwise. Be sure to check out some of the smaller tribs like Four Mile and Keg Creeks. Other area smaller tribs have med flows and slightly stained water color something like 1 2 feet of visibility. It was getting a bit frustrating so since it was a short trip we worked our way back to the nose and started fishing for lake trout. Good chance for some icing conditions coming on there. Johnson Creek had a nice bump in flows and got stained and guys reported some salmon on the move there.
